The Art Institute of Houston

The Art Institute of Houston is a 97,000 SF build-out of an existing five-level building. The build-out included a slab-on-grade for level one, five teaching kitchens, a dining laboratory, a student deli/ lounge, a soundproof audio studio, a video studio complete with a green screen, sewing laboratories, computer laboratories, classrooms and a library. The building required 14 new rooftop air handler units to serve the kitchens and add natural gas services to the building. Harvey Cleary also added extensive structural steel reinforcement and firewalls due to the change in occupant load.
